Friendly Reminder for Texans: Tax Free Holiday Aug 15-17

August 13, 2008 · 2 comments

Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales tax August 15-17 during the annual tax holiday.

Clothing, footwear, and backpacks are included during the holiday. For a complete list of items and further details, visit this website.

Guess what else is included? DIAPERS! Stock up on coupons to take advantage of extra savings.

Shoppers beware: the stores are packed, and lines are inevitable. Shop EARLY to avoid the worst of the crowds.

Some people prefer to avoid shopping altogether during this annual holiday simply because saving 8.25% is not worth the hassle. I would tend to agree, partially. Do you know how far $8 can go at CVS?

Not a Texan? Your state may offer a sales-tax holiday as well. Go here to find out.

Bummer – no fun in California! However, I visit Montana every summer and make up for it there – they still have no sales tax.
