Frugal Family Fun: In Newport Beach

August 8, 2008 · 4 comments

Is it possible to find some frugal fun in Orange County, CA??

Absolutely!

Today we loaded up the kids, my sisters and my mom and headed to Newport Aquatic Center.

We spent an hour enjoying the sights and had a friendly race (my boat won).

That’s Sara in front; she was quite the paddler! Mommy was very proud. Grandma coached her from the backseat.

That’s me with the white hat! Sister #1 is behind me. We made a great team!

Three generations of kayakers!
My sister Diana, me, my mom, and Sara (don’t worry, we all wore life jackets).

It was $18 to rent a double kayak for one hour. Money well spent!

A ticket to Disneyland now costs $69 per person.

Kayaking is great fun! My whole family enjoyed it while on vacation in the Outer Banks in NC recently. Great exercise too, but just getting to hang out on the water with family was the best part. I agree, $ well spent.

Looks like ya’ll had a blast! Making memories that last a lifetime doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Glad you had some frugal fun!

Oh it was so much fun. I will probably be sore tomorrow! I enjoyed just being outdoors and the ocean breeze.
