Thank you, Courtney, for my beautiful portrait!

Hopefully, as you read this, I am en route to Texas. Flying standby is interesting. It requires an incredible amount of patience, and a whole lotta trust.

We had a whirlwind week in California. There was beautiful weather, family, old friends, and more. It is time to go home. I have never loved my own bed as much as I do right now.

Although we are headed back to the humid heat, I am looking forward to great big sloppy greetings from my dogs. I long to get back to my regular blogging schedule, along with the old family routine.

Nothing like a vacation makes you appreciate the simplicity of home.

Since I will not be posting today, stop by my bloggy friend Nessa’s blog. She has been a loyal reader since the beginning! I love her confession of a coupon junkie. I did not know it as I read it, but Nessa later told me that my blog inspired the post. Imagine.

1 Marin... August 11, 2008 at 4:58 am: My dad is an airline pilot so I spent my childhood flying standby. It was frustrating at times but worth it now that I look back at all the places we were able to go because we could fly so inexpensively! After my husband retires from the air force, I’m hoping he’ll do the airline thing too, so we can give the same “gift” to our kids!
