Congratulations to last week’s winner of the fabulous diaper cake from Diaper Cakewalk!
Commenter #52 – jceko77
She gets to choose any 3-tiered cake from the bestsellers gallery at Diaper Cakewalk.

I wish I had discovered this product years ago. Actually, I wish my mother had one when I was growing up! She raised 4 girls who loved to swim, and were constantly plagued with swimmers’ ear. I will never forget the pain of those infections.
The EarCheck Middle Ear Monitor is easy to use, and gentle on a child’s ear. It is a fast and easy way for parents to check for fluid in the middle ear. I imagine this is tremendously helpful when you have a child who cannot yet verbalize what they are feeling!
It is safe to use in children ages 6 months to young adult. You simply position the tip in your child’s ear, and press scan. Within seconds, results are indicated on the display panel.
My favorite aspect of the EarCheck? It can eliminate unnecessary doctor office visits.
For example, my older daughter has allergies that affect her sinuses. She occasionally mentions pain and pressure in her ear when the allergies are flaring up. Just a few months ago, we visited the doctor only to be told she did not have an ear infection. By using the EarCheck, I now know if she simply needs to take her antihistamine, or make a trip to the doctor for antiobiotics. Money saved!
I also appreciate that the EarCheck can detect signs of fluid at the early stages of infection, before your child is miserable. There is nothing worse than a cranky toddler with a full blown ear infection!
Would you like a chance to win your own EarCheck Monitor? This would also make a great gift for a new mom.
For a chance to win:

I had to drive my son to the doctor’s 5 months in a row to keep checking for fluid in his ears.

My husband and I were just talking about getting one of these! Our son gets lots of ear infections, so this would be a great help (although hopefully ear tubes will help out too!). Thanks! je_leas@hotmail.com

This would be great since my both of my boys have allergies and sinus problems. We are always at the doctor office and the copays surely add up.

This past fall, my son woke up one night complaining of a boo-boo in his ear. I took him to the doctor’s the very next day to be told he had “rip-roaring ear infections” in both ears. A month later, we followed up with the doctor to find out that the antibiotics hadn’t cleared up the infection and he had to be treated again. I’m now worried that he’d actually had the infections since last spring when we took him in for a possible UTI to be told he had an ear infection too. Apparently my 2 year old has a very high pain tolerance and this would be helpful as I’ve realized there seems to be a fine line between hypochondria and neglect as a parent!

I just read about this in a magazine. My 8 month old was just recently sick, and we wondered if she had an ear infection. It would have been so nice to have since she can’t tell us!

Wow! How lucky someone will be to win this! Any family would benefit from not running to the talking and risking infection from other sick children in the waiting room!

Hi. Thank you for all the advice and help on your blog, I enjoy reading it. I am taking my 9.5 month old baby boy to the dr. today for what will probably be a wasted visit. He’s had a cold for over a week and I think he may now have an ear infection. I’m not sure though, so if I had this EarCheck, which sounds like a wonderful product, I might have a better idea. It’s so hard to tell in a baby. Thank you!

I have been to the DR. countless times with what was thought to be an ear infection and had it just turn out to be teething pain. This would save a lot of copays.

This sounds like a great product. I would love to use this instead of going to the doc and have it be nothing and look like an over protective mother.

We had our third baby this winter and this would be SOOOOO helpful to me. My other two children had so many ear infections that they both got tubes so I am an anxious mother that would love to know for sure if it’s an ear infection before I take them in!

This would be great for both my toddler and baby on the way. I’m a bit of a worry-wort, so I’m always nervous my daughter has an ear infection when she’s had a cold and is unusually cranky. (Never has though.) It would be handy to use this monitor to ease my concerns right away, or know if I really do need to take her to the doc.

I grew up with ear infections too because I swam a lot. In fact, this past January I had a horrible ear infection (not from swimming), but the doctor refused to give me anything for it because I am pregnant. My ear drum ended up busting and it was the worst pain I’ve ever been through in my life. I would never want that for my daughter, so this would really help since she has horrible allergies from living in Southeast Texas.

I’m a new mom due in July and have NO IDEA what sort of gadgets I really need. Knowing that it’s been really useful by you and others from the Amazon reviews gives me confidence that it’s a good pick. Can’t get enough good advice these days

I think you mentioned the biggest benefit would be unneeded trips to dr. Also the children not getting antibiotics unless it is needed. Thanks!

My toddler ended up having his eardrum burst because we had no idea he had an ear infection. He was so miserable and it would be great to avoid that ever happening again!

I would love to win this as it would answer the question of when to go and when not to go to the dr. Seeing how our ped is 1 hr 15 min away it sure would make it so I didn’t make a trip for nothing. It just stinks when you go to find out it is just a cold, or when you don’t go and find out later you should have because it gets worse.
Thanks for the opportunity.

I would say that my sanity would benefit with one of these bad boys! I, like probably every other parent on Earth, can’t stand having a sick child, let alone trying to get a sick and squirmy child to sit still long enough to check for a fever! This would be awesome to have! Thanks for the giveaway!
