Giveaway: Marcal Small Steps Family Starter Kit (Now Closed)

August 22, 2009 · 151 comments

marcal A few months ago, there was a coupon for a free 4-pack of Marcal Small Steps toilet paper in a Sunday insert. I had never heard of this brand, and had no idea where to find it.

Turns out it is actually sold at many stores across the nation, but I never redeemed my coupon. So I was very happy when the folks at Marcal sent me a Family Starter Kit of their new Small Steps line to try for myself.

I was impressed with the 100% recycled paper products, and pleased to see they are whitened without chlorine bleaching.  But I was surprised to learn that they are not sold at a premium price like many other “green” products.

You can join the Small Steps Family to receive coupons and special offers, as well as a chance to participate in research panels.

Marcal is offering one Keeping the Kingdom First reader a “Family Starter Kit” to enjoy! It includes: toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and facial tissue- all made from 100% recycled paper.

For a chance to win:

1. Leave a comment below sharing a simple way you practice greener living (initial entry). If you are reading via email or in a reader, please click through to the post to enter.

For Bonus Entries (leave a separate comment for each):

2. If you are a subscriber or follower (thank you!), leave a separate comment. You may subscribe for free updates via RSS or email and leave a comment telling me you have done so.

3. For a third entry, add Keeping the Kingdom First to your blogroll or add my badge to your sidebar. Leave a separate comment with a link to your site.

This contest will close on Thursday, August 27th, at 11pm CST. The winner will be selected by random.org and contacted via email.

Good luck, and thank you for entering!

Wash everything but towels in cold and have nearly 30 reusable bags. Thank you.

We have spent the last year trying to be greener – we hang dry most of our clothes, recycle more and seek out products made from recycled materials.

Like you I also started using Smaller Steps paper products. I also use reusable containers whenever possible and the cloth grocery bags. I started using my library card instead of buying books which I figure, saves paper and declutters my house.

5 Sharon W August 24, 2009 at 2:17 pm

I had my husband put up one of those umbrella looking clothes lines outside to save on electricity.

6 Sharon W August 24, 2009 at 2:18 pm

I subscribe.

I could not find the small steps in my area until the coupons were expired. humm?

7 Tracy M August 24, 2009 at 3:06 pm

I use canvas bags when I go shopping so that I don’t use plastic bags.

8 Bargain Loving Mom August 24, 2009 at 4:52 pm

One of the easiest ways to be green is to shop at thrift stores. Instead of buying new clothes, we shop at thrift stores! When we are done with the clothes or have outgrown them, they are donated back to Goodwill!

I save on paper towels by using towels. We generally go through a roll about once a month with our family of 6.

I use marcal TP almost exclusively now thanks to kmart and of course marcal for all those great coupons. We have nothing but CFL light bulbs in our house and we are responsible for collecting cans for the neighborhood to recycle

14 cheryl August 24, 2009 at 7:18 pm

I have a Sigg to take water with me where ever I go…that really has saved some $$ too. & We are recycling more stuff now. I think the past 2 months we’ve only had 2 garbage bags in the dumpster on garbage day (33 gal size though)
I have quite a few reusable grocery bags, I always forget to take them (my hands are full with my coupon binder, sigg & purse) ….but they are being used to tote toys around & as library bags.

I purchased cloth bags and take them whenever I shop. They stay in my car so they are always available, even on those unexpected stops. No more plastic bags for me!

We do lots of our purchasing at garage sales and on craigslist. By purchasing items that are slightly used, we are cutting down on packaging and keeping things from ending up in a landfill. It also saves us quite a bit of “green”.
