A Christmas dinner does not have to be elaborate to be meaningful. With the right decor, some candlelight and your loved ones, even the most frugal meal is appreciated.
This year, Walmart is making it a little easier to achieve that frugal holiday dinner. Ingredients for a Christmas feast for eight for under $30 include:
· One 10-pound select hickory smoked, spiral cut half ham
· Three 8-ounce cans Del Monte green beans
· One 10-pound bag of Russet potatoes
· One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls
· One 10-inch pumpkin pie
Check out Walmart’s new Holiday Meal page featuring tips from Food Network stars Aaron Sanchez and Melissa D’Arabian for recipes on a budget.

My favorite holiday dish is the traditional ham that has been eaten for as long as I can remember! I continue to use the method that my mother does; a mixture of mustard and brown sugar to glaze with pineapple placed on top!
I look forwards to that ham every Christmas! The gravy from the juices is out of this world; sweet and smoky at the same time….yum!

My favorite holiday dish has to be all the desserts!!! Love them!
I always look forward to the many casseroles. Most of them make too much to serve to a family of 4 (unless you want leftovers for a month!). My aunt makes a rice and broccoli casserole and of course there is the potato casserole. Yum. I am ready to eat (just not too much, it would defeat my success at weight loss).

My favorite recipe that we usually only have during the holidays is a fruit salad of sorts that may Grandmother dreamed up when I was just a little girl some 40 odd years ago. It’s made with apples, bananas, marshmallows, and raisins all mixed up with mayonnaise and a spoon full of sugar. Some people think it sounds gross but it really is very good.

We don’t have a traditional Christmas dinner – I just let my family each pick out one thing they would like to have, so we have things like meat sticks, Easy Cheese and crackers, Hot Pockets, etc.! So I guess my favorite dish is whatever strikes my fancy this year!
Of course, I like Christmas cookies, and — Oh, how could I forget? I LOVE homemade chocolate covered cherries. Yum!

My favorite Christmas dish is one my grandmothers (both of them!) used to make called Cinnamon Apples. Take a pot of water, dump in a bag of cinnamon red hots and turn on medium. Take some apples, peel them, core them and quarter them and place in the water. Cook until red, but not too mushy! Store the apples in the juice. Best served chilled the next day. Yummmy!!
Hmmm…favorite Christmas dish…it’s hard to pick just one. Growing up, we always had another turkey dinner similar to Thanksgiving. But my in-laws make a ham dinner on Christmas. I’ve grown to love ham and cheesy potatoes on Christmas, and I’m even making it this year when I’m hosting Christmas with my parents.

We haven’t had a traditional Christmas dinner since the years when I got sick and it was just too much to do Thanksgiving and then Christmas back to back with all the trimmings. So we simplified and I started making lasagna for Christmas dinner(and the world didn’t stop). We do traditionally do cookies during the season. I don’t know if that counts. Nothing is nicer than turning on the carols and filling your house with the smell of cookies. Dinnerwise I guess garlic bread would have to be a “traditional” favorite with our dinner. This year since I feel a bit better we may try to make some new traditions and I am resolved to be able to make a dinner roll from scratch with my daughter. Thanks for the giveaway.

My favorite holiday dish is my mom’s Jello cake. She baked two round white cakes, pokes holes in them, then pours cherry jello over one and lime jello over the other Sit both in the fridge for 4 hours, then layer with lots of cool whip. Sooooooo good!
My favorite dish would be sweet potatoes. I love to make them from scratch, mash them up and put toasted pecans on the top and top with lots of marshmallows. put them in the oven and let the marshmallows become gooey. yummy.

My absolute favourite holiday dish is the mashed potatoes I make for my family. I boil them sans-skin (for my son) and whip them ’til they’re smooth and creamy. I bake them for 10 mins with cheese on top and boom, enough cheesy taters to make an 11 year old giddy.
I am looking forward to Christmas dinner which will consist of Ham and Sweet Potato Cassarole, not to mention homemade potato rolls.

The holidays are a great time to spend quality time with your loved ones. Every year, our family had a tradition of all of us pitching in and helping out with Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinner. My favorite dish is my dad Raisin covered ham. Sounds funny, but its gives the ham such a sweet flavor, and its easy to make, just add raisins! Happy Holidays Everyone!
