I am a single mom and rarely have anything extra for emergencies and having to borrow for those needs. Now way further in debt than I ever wanted to be but I am working on it. I have been saving money at the store with coupons and loving it. It is amazing the money that you can save.

I just want you all to know what an amazing person Shelly is. She is a great sister, aunt, friend, and teacher. She has advised our mother and me on our couponing ways and is helping us get out of debt even with living 5 hours away. Growing up we always didn’t see eye to eye, but as we got older, we became friends… just in time for her to move away from me. I miss her, think about her, and pray for her daily. She is truly an inspiration! I love you and miss you dearly sis! P.S. I did pretty well myself at CVS this week and am headed to Krogers on Wed. morning with my coupons in hand!

I can TOTALLY understand where you are coming from. My husband and I are currently working our way out of debt due to last years double whammy of needing a new roof and a new furnace (within 2 weeks). I printed out the Bible verse

“Those who gather money little by little, watch it grow” Prov 13:11

and posted it EVERYWHERE in my house to keep me going when I feel that the couponing, bargaining, and saving feels like it isnt going anywhere.

Great story, great job! Btw, there are free coupon match up websites and other free deal-share sites which I would recommend… I’m in Ohio and CouponAllies.com does match ups in our area plus I get emails from RefundCentsDaily (this is free, but you can pay about $1 a month for their RefundCents.com membership (which I have but almost never use so won’t be renewing that membership)…Freebies4Mom.com and TheFrugalGirls.com.

Thanks for sharing, Shelly! We’ve got a small credit card and a student loan left to go before we’re debt-free. It’s amazing how those $.50 off coupons can add up to some great savings that can be put toward paying off debt!
