I am pretty minimalistic when it comes to baby gear (unless we are talking cloth diapers, and well, that’s another story). For example, I don’t have an infant carseat, but went with the convertible because it lasts longer. We don’t use a high chair, but a portable booster seat that comes with a tray and that will last well into toddler-hood without taking up a ton of space. I just don’t think you need a lot of “stuff” for baby, so the fact that I really love something I would consider a baby gear “want” is pretty telling.
One of the first things I noticed about the Mega Seat was it’s high back. The other seat we have doesn’t have as high of a back, and when Cam sat in it, his head and neck weren’t supported very well… so we were unable to use it. With the Mega Seat, the high back kept his head and neck supported very well.
Another feature I like is that it has a seat buckle. And while I realize young babies can’t actually pull themselves out of a seat like this, older siblings can. The buckle deters them from picking baby up out of the seat.
Did I mention, it wipes clean? Babies are messy, and you don’t need something else to have to scrub down. Any mess made in this seat is very easily and quickly taken care of.
I also love that you can purchase a tray to attach for easy feeding or playing. It is perfect for at home or to take with you on vacation. In fact, we are on vacation in New Braunfels, Texas, this week, and I forgot to pack it up! (I also forgot to bring my husband’s water shoes, Reese’s swim goggles, and my flip flops for the pool. Yeah.) I can attest that it would have been very handy to have during our meals at the condo!
About the Mega Seat
Treating the protection of America’s infants with the utmost seriousness, Mega Seat™ affords babies the ability to safely sit upright. The incorporation of a seat belt into the product’s design, along with a steady high back, renders this safeguarding possible and helps ensure the child is safely buckled in the Mega Seat™ at all times.
Made from soft yet durable polyurethane foam, the patented Mega Seat™ (MSRP $39.99) enables infants who no longer require neck support to sit unassisted. As a result, babies can enjoy playtime with their older siblings and caregivers. To that end, the Mega Seat™ offers the option of the attachable, easy-to-install Mega Tray™ (sold separately, MSRP $9.99) to help keep the child’s essentials within reach.
Other features that set the Mega Seat™ apart include a high back for added neck and back support, swoops on the side of the seat to accommodate the infant’s arm and a wide leg area for extra leg support while the child is strapped in. As a result of all these built-in functions, baby stays comfortably propped up and injury free. Moms will also like how much of a breeze the polyurethane surface is to clean. Best of all, the Mega Seat™ is made in the USA and stands a mere 11 inches tall and weighs just 3.7 pounds for easy take-along transport on everyday excursions.
Even though Cam can sit up on his own now, we still use the Mega Seat for play and for those times when he needs to be safely contained for a minute (those crawling babies are sneaky little things!).
